When Gennadiy Mokhnenko, a pastor from Mariupol, Ukraine, took up the fight against child homelessness in the early 2000s, he did so by forcibly abducting street children and bringing them to his Pilgrim Republic rehabilitation center, which was at the time the largest organization of its kind in the former Soviet Union. Gennadiy's tireless efforts and unafraid application of tough love to his city's problems have earned him the distinction of being both a folk hero and a lawless vigilante in the eyes of certain people. Despite the negative feedback, Gennadiy is adamant about carrying on with his mission.
