After rejecting Paro's affection owing to a misunderstanding, Dev turns to alcohol and drugs for solace. Paro moves on, while Dev continues to feel regret. He meets Chanda, a prostitute with her own difficulties. Dev likes her, but his tendency for self-destruction prohibits him and Chanda from becoming romantically involved. He also encounters sleazy individuals such as Chunni, Chanda's pimp, who drives Dev farther into self-destruction to satisfy her own desires.
