Scott Collins, the class troublemaker, goes on a field trip to the local museum, where he has an unusual psychic connection with one of the institution's treasures – a skull. He is able to foresee his grandmother's death because to the frightening skull. Of course, no one believes him, and he is dismissed as just another one of his tall tales. However, when his grandmother passes away unexpectedly, his younger sister, Trish, with whom he has a mutual dislike, is shocked to discover that her brother's prophesy was correct. Scott, still impacted by the powers of the skull, persuades his family to accept jobs as caretakers for a magnificent Victorian mansion in the countryside when their house is about to be foreclosed and neither parent has a job. When they arrive, they are greeted by the proprietor, Trelawney, who appears to be a normal man except for the fact that he has the capacity to communicate with Scott telepathically.
