Anhedonia
When he learns of his mentor's impending death, haggard musician Kino Warren sets out on foot across the country, passing through "the region," a realm not of this world. Kino is convinced that the mentor will not die until he arrives. Kino is unaware that several people are following him - varyingly malicious and politically involved - in search of the only known recording of the greatest piece of music ever created, a piece supposedly capable of removing all pain from the listener - created by his mentor and in his possession, completely unknown to him.
