Blood & Flesh: The Reel Life & Ghastly Death of Al Adamson

BLOOD & FLESH is more than just the story of an unusual life in movies. It comes to life through archival material and the thoughts of more than 40 colleagues, friends, and fans. It does a great job of showing the worlds of outsider filmmaker communities in California in the 1970s, as well as the strange ways they crossed paths with Hollywood and union indies. Bud Cardos worked on the Adamson shoots with regular Orson Welles crew members and cinematographers like Gary Graver, Vilmos Szigmond, and Lazlo Kovaks. Charles Manson also helped out at one point. David Gregory, the founder of Severin Films and the director of LOST SOUL: THE DOOMED JOURNEY OF RICHARD STANLEY'S ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU, spent years making this film. He talked to everyone, including the police officers who looked into Adamson's murder, to create a vivid picture of both a daring life and a tragic end, which included alien conspiracies, go-go dancers, and Colonel Sanders. If you are even slightly interested in movies, you should see this.
