Bridge to Terabithia

Jesse Aarons spent the entire summer training to become the school's fastest runner, so he is very disappointed when Leslie Burke, a new student, beats everyone. Despite this and other disparities, including the fact that she is wealthy and he is poor, as well as the fact that she is a city girl and he is a country kid, the two become fast friends. As king and queen, they co-create Terabithia, a kingdom inhabited by monsters, trolls, ogres, and giants, and rule it.
