This film depicts the Berlin drug scene in the 1970s, based on Christiane F.'s tape recordings. Christiane, 14, lives in a typical multi-story apartment building in Berlin with her mother and younger sister. She is enthralled by the 'Sound,' a new disco with cutting-edge technology. Despite the fact that she is legally too young, she asks a friend to accompany her. There she meets Detlef, who is part of a drug-addicted clique. She is gradually drawn deeper into the scene.
