The Resting Beauty holds a special location in The Royal Dancing's repertory. It was the ballet with which the Firm resumed the Royal Opera House in 1946 after The Second World War, its very first production at its new home in Covent Yard. Margot Fonteyn danced the duty of the beautiful Princess Aurora in the sneak preview, with Robert Helpmann as Prince Florimund. Sixty years later on, in 2006, the original 1946 hosting was revitalized already Director of The Royal Ballet Monica Mason and also Christopher Newton, returning Oliver Messel's fantastic layouts and glimmering outfits to the stage.
