The Ballad of Cable Hogue

Cable was duped and left without water in the desert. When Hogue discovers a spring, he is saved. It's in an ideal location for a much-needed rest stop on the local stagecoach line, which Hogue takes advantage of. He builds a house and makes money from stagecoach passengers. Hildy, a local prostitute, moves in with him. Hogue has everything going for him until the automobile ends the era of the stagecoach.
