Things take an unexpected turn for the worse for Alex Rider after finding out that his uncle Ian was murdered while serving as a British agent in the field. He is approached by the leader of The Department, who pressures him into investigating the killing of his uncle. To avoid detection, Alex creates a new identity and goes undercover at Point Blanc, an isolated boarding school in the mountains.
