Birds of a Feather

Birds of a Feather is a British sitcom that ran on BBC One from 1989 to 1998 and on ITV since 2013. It was made by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, and it starred Pauline Quirke, Linda Robson, and Lesley Joseph. Marks and Gran also wrote some of the episodes, along with many other writers. In the first episode, sisters Tracey Stubbs and Sharon Theodopolopodos are brought together when their husbands are sent to jail for armed robbery. Sharon, who lived in an Edmonton council apartment, moves into Tracey's expensive house in Chigwell, Essex. Their next-door neighbor and later friend, Dorien Green, is a middle-aged married woman who is always having affairs with younger men. In the later series, the location changes to Hainault. The show ended on Christmas Eve, 1998, after 9 years. The Mirror said on March 3, 2009, that the classic sitcom was going to be back. They said that Lesley Joseph, Pauline Quirke, and Linda Robson had all been asked by the team behind the sitcom to make another series. Quirke was quoted as adding that they were ready for the task if the writers came up with solid ideas. After this talk of a return in early 2009, nothing more was said. But in July 2012, Lesley Joseph hinted that Birds of a Feather could return for another season after a successful stage tour.
