Gladiators

Gladiators is a British television entertainment programme that aired on ITV between 10 October 1992 and 1 January 2000. It was created by LWT. It is based on the American format American Gladiators. Following the success of the British series, more versions were made in Australia and Sweden. The show was restored in 2008 before being cancelled again in 2009. The series was initially hosted by John Fashanu and Ulrika Jonsson, but Fashanu was replaced in 1997 by Jeremy Guscott. Guscott left the show in 1998, while Fashanu returned for the last season in 1999. John Anderson served as the series' referee, and the show's timekeepers were Andrew Norgate, Derek Redmond, and Eugene Gilkes. The show's commentator was John Sachs, and it was supported by its own cheering squad, known as G-Force. Despite being produced by London Weekend Television, all episodes of Gladiators, International Gladiators, The Ashes, and The Springbok Challenge were shot at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham. The first and second seasons of The Ashes and The Springbok Challenge, on the other hand, were shot on the sets of the Australian and South African versions of the programmes, respectively. The series also inspired a children's version, Gladiators: Train 2 Win, which aired on CITV between 1995 and 1998.
