Ideal

Ideal is a British dark comedy sitcom created by Graham Duff and produced by BBC Comedy North and Baby Cow Productions. It was initially broadcast on the digital channel BBC Three. Moz, played by Johnny Vegas, is a low-level cannabis dealer. Salford, Greater Manchester, was chosen as the setting since Duff was familiar with the town from his time spent performing stand-up comedy there. The majority of the story takes place in Moz's apartment and focuses on the diverse cast of personalities who visit Moz to purchase cannabis, socialize, or both. "Song of the Oss" is the final tune from British band Candidate's album Nuada: Music Inspired By the Film the Wicker Man. A number of tunes by the Californian hip hop group Ugly Duckling are also included in the series. It aired on BBC Three in the United Kingdom, the Irish entertainment channel 3e, and ABC2 in Australia. Since its debut in 2005, seven seasons have aired; the most recent concluded on 30 June 2011. The BBC canceled Ideal after the seventh season aired. After the announcement, author and creator Graham Duff emailed to his fans: "As you may have heard, the BBC has opted not to commission an eighth season of Ideal. The explanation provided was that the new channel controller wanted to do a thorough search. At the time of its closure, Ideal was attracting its largest audiences, highest-profile guest stars, and highest-rated reviews. This is both a source of pride and frustration. In addition, the show is currently broadcast in more places than ever before, from the United States to Finland and beyond." Fans have initiated a petition to save the program.
