Miracles

Miracles is an American drama TV show with Skeet Ulrich and Angus Macfadyen as the main characters. The show was made by Richard Hatem and Michael Petroni, who have called it a "spiritual version of The X-Files." David Greenwalt, who helped make Angel, was the show's executive producer and head writer for the next twelve episodes after the pilot. Miracles is about a man named Paul Callan, who works for the Catholic Church and looks into modern miracles. He starts to question his faith when he keeps finding natural explanations for what he thinks are miracles. Paul leaves the Church after he sees a real miracle that saves his life but no one believes him because he doesn't have enough proof. Alva Keel asks him to join his group, Sodalitas Quaerito, which investigates and records "unexplainable" events. Paul and Alva try to fight the coming "darkness" with the help of a former police officer, Evelyn Santos, before it's too late. On January 27, 2003, the first episode of the show aired as part of ABC's new "Super Monday" lineup. Before the show was canceled because of low ratings, ABC showed six episodes. The last episode, which aired on March 31, 2003, only had 5.7 million viewers. During the run of the show, it was interrupted several times, once for a repeat of the documentary special Living with Michael Jackson and several other times for newsmagazine specials about the Iraq War at the time. Fans of Miracles were upset by the show's cancellation and what they saw as poor management of the Monday 10:00pm time slot by ABC, so they started a fan campaign to bring the show back. Fans wrote notes on napkins and mailed them to different networks in the hopes that the show would be brought back by another network. However, their efforts were not successful, and the show ended after its first thirteen episodes.
