Phoenix Nights

Phoenix Nights is a British sitcom starring Peter Kay about The Phoenix Club, a working men's club in Farnworth, Greater Manchester. Neil Fitzmaurice, Peter Kay, and Dave Spikey co-wrote the show, which was produced by Goodnight Vienna Productions and Ovation Entertainments and shown on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom. Toni Baker and Peter Kay composed the whole soundtrack. Paddy McGuinness contributed some additional content. In 2001 and2002, two series were produced and broadcast for the first time. The show is a spin-off of That Peter Kay Thing, a satirical documentary series that spawned Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere. It was nominated for various awards, including the People's Choice Award at the 2002 British Comedy Awards. Kay also directed the second series and plays several parts in it. Kay said on BBC Radio 1 in September 2006 that a third series of Phoenix Nights had been written, but no date for filming has been set. On May8,2007, Kay made another announcement, stating that a new series would be produced. In late-2009 interviews with The Sentinel and the Croydon Guardian, however, Dave Spikey said that he and fellow co-writer Neil Fitzmaurice were unaware of any intentions to bring the programme back.
