Rebelde

Cris Morena created the Mexican telenovela Rebelde for Televisa. It is a remake of the popular Argentine series Rebelde Way adapted for a Mexican audience, which results in modifications in the characters' origins. The series lasted three seasons, with the final episode showing in Mexico on June2, 2006. In June 2006, Rebelde was replaced by Televisa's new series Código Postal. The series is set at the Elite Way School, a prestigious private boarding high school in Mexico City, with a major plot line centered on a group of students forming a pop band. There are further subplots involving the school's faculty and the parents of the kids. The random employment of English terms and phrases by Fresa characters is one of the show's trademarks. The actors who play the band members are members of an actual band called RBD, and they perform the majority of the music heard on the show. They have been tremendously successful in their own right, becoming one of the most popular artists in Latin America and touring globally. Rebelde premiered on March21, 2005 and finished on December15, 2006. The show was also shown in 65 other countries, including Serbia, Peru, Romania on Acasa TV, Brazil, Spain on Antena3, Slovenia, Bulgaria, and, beginning in September2009, Slovakia on TV Doma, Croatia on Nova TV, and Albania on Vizion Plus.
