Rescue 8

Rescue 8 is an American action drama series that is syndicated and focuses on the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Rescue Squad 8. It first aired in 1958 and ran for a total of two seasons during its initial run; however, syndicated reruns of the show continued for another ten years after that. Lang Jeffries played the role of firefighter Skip Johnson, and Jim Davis, who would go on to appear as Jock Ewing on the CBS television show Dallas, played the role of fireman Wes Cameron. Both Nancy Rennick and Mary K. Cleary starred in twenty-four episodes as Patty Johnson and Susan Johnson, respectively, who were married to and the daughter of the main character, Skip Johnson. Screen Gems was the production company behind the series, while William Witney and Dann Cahn were the directors. Rescue 8 aired a total of seventy-four programs that each lasted half an hour. The actual location of Fire Station 8 of the Los Angeles County Fire Department is at 7643 West Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, California. Due to the fact that firemen at the time were not trained as paramedics, the rescues depicted in Rescue 8 are more physically focused than those seen in the later, similarly themed television series Emergency!
