Sky King

Sky King is an American adventure radio and television series. Schuyler "Sky" King, an Arizona rancher and pilot, is the protagonist. Jack Cones, the "Flying Constable" of Twentynine Palms in San Bernardino County, California, was likely the inspiration for the 1930s television series, although this assertion cannot be confirmed. Although the series has significant western overtones, King primarily used the Songbird to apprehend criminals and spies and locate lost hikers. Throughout the course of the series, the aircraft utilized changed, although the later model was never assigned a number and remained known as the Songbird. King and his niece Penny lived near the Arizona town of Grover on the Flying Crown Ranch. Penny and Clipper were also pilots, but very unskilled ones who looked on their uncle for guidance and training. Sky entrusted Penny, a seasoned air racer and multi-engine pilot, to pilot the Songbird. Penny refers to Clipper as "my brother" in the third episode, indicating that they are siblings. The majority of the musical composition was composed by Herschel Burke Gilbert.
