The Invisible Man

Vincent Ventresca, Paul Ben-Victor, Eddie Jones, Shannon Kenny, and Michael McCafferty star in the American sci-fi television series The Invisible Man. It ran for two seasons, from June9, 2000 to February1,2002, and was somewhat more successful than earlier television series portraying invisible secret operatives. The story follows Darien Fawkes, a thief facing life in prison who is recruited by a low-rent spy organization and granted the power of invisibility through the implantation of a unique "Quicksilver gland" in his head. Fawkes can ooze "Quicksilver," a light-bending material, from his pores and follicles thanks to this gland. The chemical coats his skin, hair, nails, and clothing swiftly, making him invisible. He has the ability to consciously release Quicksilver, which eventually flakes off and disintegrates. Scientist Arnaud DeFehrn destroyed the Quicksilver gland during its development, causing it to secrete a neurotoxic that accumulates in the bloodstream and causes extreme pain, as well as antisocial behavior and psychosis. To keep him sane and healthy, the host requires frequent dosages of "counteragent," which is controlled by said government agency. Due to cost difficulties and internal wrangling between the Sci Fi Channel and its then-parent company, USA Networks, this series was discontinued after two seasons. The first season of the sitcom aired simultaneously in first-run syndication and on Sci Fi.
