The Librarians

The Librarians is an Australian comedy show that started on ABC TV on October 31, 2007. The show airs on RTÉ Two in Ireland. Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope, who are also the main characters, make the show and write the scripts. Hope also directs the series. Six 30-minute episodes made up the first season. The second season, which had six more episodes and started on August 5, 2009, was shot at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds. The series focuses on Frances O'Brien, a head librarian who is a devout Catholic and a casual racist. When she has to hire her former best friend Christine Grimwood, who is now a drug dealer, as the children's librarian, her life falls apart. Frances must do everything she can to hide her dangerous past and focus on Book Week, the biggest event on the library's calendar. Early in 2010, a third season was filmed, and it aired on ABC1 that same year. The theme music for The Librarians is an upbeat version of Dizzy Gillespie's popular jazz song "A Night in Tunisia."
