The Six Million Dollar Man

The Six Million Dollar Man is an American television series about a former astronaut with bionic implants who works for OSI, a fictitious government agency. The series is based on the novel Cyborg by Martin Caidin, which was the series' suggested title during pre-production. Following three television movies that aired in1973, The Six Million Dollar Man aired as a regular series on the ABC network for five seasons from 1974 to 1978. Lee Majors played the title role of Steve Austin, who went on to become a 1970s pop culture star. The Bionic Woman, a spin-off series, lasted from 1976 to 1978. Between 1987 and 1994, other television movies involving both eponymous characters were also produced.
